Family Read Aloud Books or Independent Reading: Chemistry

Chemistry is the topic of this year’s Science memory work. If you would like to give context to the memory work, choose one or more of the following books.

Form 1+ (or whole family read aloud)

Claritas Cycle 3 Chemistry for the Grammar Stage

This book is scheduled all four terms at a pace of one lesson per week and lines up perfectly with the Cycle 3 memory work.

This book is scheduled all four terms, at a pace of

Guest Hollow Actions and Reactions

This is a complete curriculum with it’s own schedule. It is a 32-week program, and 28-weeks of it are scheduled on the STAR schedule. The time requirement for this curriculum is thirty minutes per day.

Form 2+ (or whole family read aloud)

Exploring Creation with Chemistry & Physics by Jeannie Fulbright

This book is scheduled all four terms, at a pace of three pages per week. The physics lessons will be read in Cycle 4, so only the chemistry lessons are scheduled for Cycle 3.

Sabbath Mood Living Science Guide Chemistry Form 2

This curriculum is scheduled at a pace of three lessons per week (approximately 30 minutes each), over the first eleven weeks. You will also need the books Molecules, Matter and Atoms and Handbook of Nature Study to complete this curriculum.

Sabbath Mood Living Science Guide: Form 3-4 Chemistry

This curriculum is scheduled at a pace of one to two lessons per week. You will also need the book The Mystery of the Periodic Table for this curriculum. See the Sabbath Mood website for more information.

My First Book About Chemistry by Patricia J. Wynne and Donald M. Silver

This book is scheduled all four terms, at a pace of one to three pages per week.
